Associate Board

Literacy Chicago's Associate Board is a group of young professionals dedicated to advancing literacy throughout the Chicago land area. These board members develop their philanthropic skills by providing public relations, marketing and fundraising support. The Associate Board is key to guaranteeing Literacy Chicago is able to provide the necessary services to our students. Securing funds, attracting media attention and spearheading one-time volunteer projects are all vital components of the Associate Board's activities.

To join the Associate Board, simply complete an application AB Application.  Associate Board members review applications then vote applicants into membership.  Board members pay annual membership dues at one of the following levels:

 

Leaders for Literacy

  • $2,500, Editor
  • $1,000, Literary Agent
  • $500, Publicist

Friends of Literacy

  • $250, Novelist
  • $100, Poet
  • $75, Reporter

 

Get things done

The Associate Board meets once every two months to discuss Associate Board and committee business.  In order to meet its annual goals, the Associate Board relies on the work of its committees. Currently, Associate Board members can choose to work with one of four committees:

Quotes Newsletter

The Literacy Chicago Associate Board publishes Quotes, a newsletter highlighting  programs of Literacy Chicago. Quotes recognizes Associate Board sponsors, lists upcoming current events and fundraising goals. It also spotlights and an extraordinary Associate Board member. This newsletter is distributed to the Literacy Chicago Associate Board, and to potential Associate Board members and sponsors.
