One Nail at a Time
Literacy Chicago's new career exploration class will teach students about the various fields in construction.
Subjects will include:
Fields to include carpentry, electrical, welding, masonry, roofing, plumbing, glazier and plasterer. Possibilities to transition into a hands-on program, apprenticeship, and assistance with job placement.
This program is 12 weeks of classroom instruction (twice a week 10 am-12 pm). The Bridge Program is for learners with initial test scores between 6th grade and higher in math and reading.
Anyone enrolled in our program has free access to math, and reading tutors.

- Benefits of working within the construction field.
- Industry statistics about what's in demand.
- Contextualized applied mathematics.
- Design and planning based on residential and commercial properties.
