Volunteer as a Tutor
Most people who volunteer with us become tutors for either our ESL, and Citizenship students or help native speaking adults with their reading, and comprehension skills. We are also looking for people to tutor Digital Literacy and computer skills.
All of our students are always extremely grateful to their volunteer tutors. As for the time commitment, we expect our tutors to meet with their students once or twice a week for at least an hour. Volunteers can meet with their tutors at any mutually acceptable place. We ask that tutors commit to a minimum of 6 to 9 months to work with a student, which will allow time for improvement.
By volunteering with Literacy Chicago you will be helping someone learn to improve their skills and you will also find that it is a very rewarding and enriching activity.
