Asahi Takahama, in Debby Park's ESL class, has a wonderful teacher.
"I appreciate that you have assigned the GREAT GREAT teacher/Debby for ESL class. We have been enjoying studying English in ESL class on Tuesday and Thursday. Debby has a GREAT talent to teach English for students who are learning English as second language. She is also very helpful, kind and polite for not only students but also everybody.
To tell the truth, I did not expect I would have a wonderful teacher like her!!We are so happy to have a great teacher in ESL class!

To study second language is not easy for adults, but I would like to keep trying to improve my English with my great teacher, tutor, and classmates."

Vickie Ferguson, Adult Literacy student, enjoys working with her tutors

My reading tutor, John Coats, and I started working together in June 2012. We've been working on a list of words and a Dick and Jane book. We started in a small group with two other students, but they stopped coming after a few months. We meet  every Thursday at the Chase Bank cafeteria.
I've made progress but I know I have to make more. I feel good about the new words I've learned. I also enjoy my one-on-one computer tutoring. I don't feel like I'm being left behind like I sometimes do if I miss something in a class. I love Literacy Chicago for all the help it has given me.

Freyal Becomes American

My name is Feryal Faleh. I came to Literacy Chicago to study for my citizenship interview. I began as Jeannie’s student in July 2018. Jeannie was very patient and understanding. I felt happy in her class. Seven months later I passed the interview!
