Literacy Chicago Celebrates H.C. Warfield and Karen Fredrickson H.C. Warfield (see the February edition of our newsletter!) was awarded a prestigious literacy award honoring his academic performance. The Spotlight on Achievement award is given to 10 adult students each year for their resolve, work and persistence to improve their education. Karen Fredrickson, volunteer tutor at Literacy Chicago since 2014, also received an award from Jesse White honoring her helpfulness and her encouragement in helping literacy students reach their potential. Karen also received a special award for her "Heroic Commitment to Literacy" presented by State Representative Lamont Robinson of District 5. Karen really goes beyond the call of duty helping Literacy Chicago in other ways. She helps with the editing and publishing of Words on The Page, Literacy Chicago's annual book of students' essays.
