Most of our volunteers tutor our students and we are very grateful for their time and energy.
We also need dedicated individuals to help our cause by fundraising, event planning and promoting our programs throughout the community. If you are interested in this please consider joining our Associate Board

Why volunteer with Literacy Chicago?
Most people who volunteer with us become tutors for either our ESL and Citizenship students or help native speaking adults with their reading & comprehension skills. We are also looking for people to tutor Digital Literacy and math. What will be expected of me? We expect our tutors to meet with their students for at least an hour once or twice a week and for a minimum of 6 to 9 months. Tutors meet with their students at the Literacenter or any agreed upon public place. What are the benefits? By volunteering with Literacy Chicago you will be helping someone learn to improve their skills, which is often life changing. Our students are extremely grateful to their volunteer tutors. What's in it for me? You may be surprised at how rewarding and enriching volunteer tutoring will be for you. Listen to our tutors talking about their experiences below! Apply here:
